It’s been 5 YEARS since we started this night is our beloved pub ‘Backdoor’. Thanks to the MAKE UP CLUB nights, HiNDU NiGHTS became somewhat of a phenomenon with great live gigs by (then) upcoming bands like The Black Box Revelation and The Van Jets and superb DJ sets by the likes of Carl Barat and Eppo Janssen. It felt like a 2009 version of The Cavern!
But with the closing of the best club around since 1964 we had to look for another venue and in our mind there was only one place good enough: VOORUIT. However, we never thought we were gonna fill the place.
Now, 5 sold out nights later, we can say our dream has come true. Rock ‘n roll is fashionable again, has recovered its place on the party scene and without being arrogant we can now say that HiNDU NiGHTS GHENT is up there with LONDON’S KOKO and LIVERPOOL’S MOJO’S. And that’s what it was all about; it was never about being small, hip or cool – we wanted everybody to get in and have it!!
